SUBJECT LINE: URGENT formal maternity complaint - birth support people restrictions

 

WHAT HAPPENED

I'm **** weeks pregnant and was just informed by a midwife that only 1 support person will be allowed at my birth. I require two people as I have hired a doula who is an expert in emotional support and my partner is the father of the baby. 

 

 

HOW IT MADE ME FEEL

Being denied access to support for emotional safety and the experience of our first child being born makes me feel inhuman, coerced, not valued, not woman Centered, angry and anxious.

 

CHEIF HEALTH OFFICER DIRECTIVES/LEGISLATION

During the last lockdown the Chief Health Officer advised two supports for maternity is reasonable given the transformative life event.

 

REMEDY

Please phone me ASAP with the good news that both my support people will be granted access. I would appreciate this being followed up with an email at your earliest convenience.
