Thank you for submitting a review of your birth service!
Your review will help other women find the best birth service in their region.
Note that we check all reviews before publishing them to ensure clinician names are not included. This generally takes 24-48 hours (as we're all volunteers.)
You will find a copy of your review in your inbox for your reference.
You might also like to complete a Detailed Review of your birth to send directly to your birth service. A summary of your data will be generated as a draft feedback email with relevant contacts. This information will not be shared on Best Birth Finder.
Please consider supporting our work by becoming a valued member of Maternity Choices Australia. We are a team of volunteer mums working to support other mums - because we all deserve the best support and care!

Details of experience
As mentioned above the hospital could not support my birth requirements.
I had planned to birth on water however I was only ‘allowed’ to labour in water. They pushed being induced before 40 weeks. They wanted continuous monitoring. I did not. They wanted to do cervical exams. I did not. They wanted me to have a saline lock. I did not. They didn’t encourage birth plans as ‘anything can happen’. Although they offer their version of continuity of midwifery care it is OB lead and they can not guarantee the midwife you ‘know’ will be there for birth.
Cairns Private. I freebirthed at 41 weeks. Precipitous birth.

Details of experience
I was lucky to have a positive birthing experience, however, I’m aware that my very straight forward birth played a part in this.
An induction was suggested to a temporary decrease in feral movement. I declined as my baby went back to normal and I felt things were fine.
My midwives were all lovely. I would have preferred a known midwife the whole way through though.

Details of experience
For this pregnancy I attempted to find a independent midwife but none service my rural area. Then sought the support of an OB so that I could have a back up plan for Cairns Private however they did not accept me into the continuity of midwife program due to midwives going on leave and also the OB refused care as my first choice was Homebirth/freebirth.
